Eleven scrapbooks containing columns written by Illyn between 1958 and 1970 for Novoye Russkoye Slovo, a Russian-language newspaper published in New York City. The columns are about life in the Soviet Union, politics, the history, literature and people of Russia as well as the experience of being a Russian emigrant in Maine. The town of Richmond, Maine, a center for Russian settlement in Maine, is featured in several of the columns.

Illyn, Tatiana, 1908-1979.

Tatiana Illyn was born on August 3, 1908, in Vinnitza, Russia, the daughter of Nikolai and Marie Bach. She was educated in Russia as a chemist and taught organic and physical chemistry there. In the 1960s she was employed at the University of Maine, becoming an assistant professor in food science in 1968. Illyn died in November 1979. From the description of Papers, 1958-1970. (Unknown).
